The company's subsidiary X-Cell Atlantic is completing development of a new alternative automotive battery which will triple product life span to 7 years and will reduce product weight by 70%. By licensing this product to battery manufacturers, this sustainable design will reduce the disposal of millions of dead batteries by one third and eliminate the consumer burden of buying replacement batteries and the consumer fear of being stranded by a dead battery.


Background

The purpose of the common automotive battery is to provide two types of power while the engine is off:

  • Engine Starting, which requires a great deal of power in a short amount of time.
  • Auxiliary Power, which requires very little power for a longer period of time, to supply energy for the security system, lights, and other accessories.

While the engine is running, the alternator provides the power for the electrical system, which includes charging the battery.


Solution

The X-CELL Sure Fire™ has two major power sources to provide for these needs:

  • Ignition Array, for engine starting.
  • Auxiliary Pack, for accessory power.

Integrated into the X-CELL Sure Fire is patent-pending Eco­Smart™ technology which sets priority to power optimization and safety:

In addition, this technology allows drivers to be at ease since they can always find out the state of charge of the battery and will be informed of imminent battery failure-- to avoid being stranded.
